Faith is a trouble maker with a capital T, growing up in a poor neighborhood Faith ran with a group of delinquent kids eventually becoming a gang as they got older. One night she got caught by the cops while trying to steal and vandalize a small store. The rest of the gang made a run for it leaving faith behind to take the blame. While in lock up a mysterious character visited her and offered a choice either she could stay and spend the next few years behind bars or she could go to Saint Claire’s, Faith choose the later and wound up working for Mrs. Thorn

obviously i don't know much about the justice system.

Fun fact When choosing colors for faith I decided on orange since she constantly fighting in one way or the other with Vicki whose favorite color is green, opposite sides of the irish flag.
